We started out the day with a tour of St. Jude Children’s Medical Research Hospital. Mary, our tour guide, was fantastic! She was so enthusiastic and passionate about the research and work that happens there and provided interesting insider tidbits about the hospital. She also enlightened us about the power one person has by following their calling, just like Danny Thomas, the founder of St. Jude. Seeing the outstanding work that they do for these sick kids only inspired us to put our best foot forward.
Our afternoon at Le Bonheur started with a quick lunch and then straight to work. Everyone had different experiences today with various children that touch each of our hearts in a different way. Some of us were on the gastroenterology floor, some were on the neurology floor, others were baby huggers. Some of us were leading special activities such as movies or teenage games.
At night, we went grocery shopping for Ronald McDonald House and prepared a taco Tuesday dinner for ourselves.
So far, we are learning lots about this community, one another, and ourselves.
Excited to spend the night with great friends and to see what tomorrow brings!
